Volunteers Needed

 

Our class still needs someone to sign up to be our foundation liaison for this school year.  Frances Havorsen is rounding up the Davis Foundation liaisons this week to forward some important and timely information regarding their plans for this year.  Please consider volunteering for this important position.  If you have any questions regarding the Davis Foundation or if you would like to volunteer,  please contact Frances Halvorsen at franceshalvorsen@hotmail.com

 

Learning Log

• Science – weather and water
• Math – problem solving, base ten,  number sense, addition and subtraction, time measurement 
• Reading – reading connections, response logs, making predictions, high frequency words, cause and effect, context clues, and sequence of events
• Language Arts - contractions, word endings (suffixes: -s, -ed, -ing), sentence writing conventions, handwriting skills
• Writing - writing procedures and process, narrative writing
• Spelling/Phonics – spelling word lists 1A &1B, word families, short a, short o

Testing Days

A reminder that testing days are coming up on September 17, 18, 19.  The students should have a good night’s rest and a hearty breakfast each day in order to be  well prepared for testing.  Please talk to your child about the importance of listening and following testing directions and procedures.  Many thanks for your support.

Lunch Time Visitors

The administration asks that parents and guests please refrain from bringing fast food into the school for your student’s lunch. Bringing in lunches from fast food or restaurant sources do not support our school lunch program. In addition, the student sitting beside your student is "left out". Such special treats should be saved for after school or weekends. We encourage you to purchase one of our lunches as you are always invited to eat with us. Thank you for your cooperation.
